Apart from the H1N1 influenza, please take note that there will be NO TRAINING till futher notice.
Please keep updated by checking on the SJ notice board (located at Science Block level 1), school TV screens or by this blog itself. Please also note that the commemeration of SJ day will be TOMORROW,together with the NCC. All cadets from sec 1-4 are to put on FULL-U, though there wont be any parade. You may change to half-u during recess, or PT kit if you have any physical lessons.
Please note that when you have your full-u put on:

you are not supposed to go outside shelter without barret/headdress on

no slinging of bags

you are NOT supposed to sit on the floor unless there is really a need to do so.
And of course, shining boots are encouraged. =)

Our ambulance compt team came in third in the zone 2 competition. Well done!
Nusing compt team! Although u all did not clinch the top three, you guys did very well too! Just do better for next year's compt ya?

March Camp 2009

Hello all.
Just a reminder...

On the upcoming Friday, 13th March 2009 will be your annual March camp at BVSS.
Please sign your consent forms and pass it to the respective squad I/Cs latest by Wednesday.
Take note of the attire and reporting time on Friday. (all on consent form)
As for the packing list, if you all still have any doubts about the items, please approach the NCOs or the squad three seniors. You all can purchase most of the items from the army market. Your group leaders will be guiding you.

Please also come up with an idea of your performance preferably by Wednesday. If you have any problems, do approach us or your camp performance I/Cs (PTE Lim Qing Wen from squad2 and LCP Isaac Tan from squad3) You can either choose dance, song or MTV.
Your group flag MUST be ready before the camp day itself.

Do inform your squad mates who were absent yesterday about the details of the camp.

SNCOs are invited to this year's camp! Do inform us if you're coming! :DD

1) Details of the next training will be confirmed again. All cadets are required to check the SJ blog, notice board and announcements on the school TV for further notice.

2) Any outstanding excuse letters/MCs that are not submitted are to be done so by this Monday, 19th Jan 2009. Submissions are to be made to the respective Squad I/Cs. Squad I/Cs are to pass it to the DN of the week after collecting from the absentees. The style of the letter should be of the acceptable format.

3) All cadets are reminded to revise on their first aid theory and footdrill commands.

4) All competition team are expected to start extra training by themselves and inform the NCOs whenever they are having training.

5) Members who fail to adhere to the above-mentioned will be disciplinary dealt with.

First of all, well done to the sec 2s and 3s who have attended the Basic and Advance NCO course of 2008! You guys were simply great!

Hope that you all have enjoyed this whole course, gained new experience, and learnt to become future/better NCOs.

Please be reminded that the Basic and Advance NCO course exam will be on this Saturday, 20th December 2008.
Reporting time will be from 0730-0745hrs.
Venue is to be confirmed.
Attire will be Full Uniform for both Basic and Advance course.

The 5days4nights camp will be held at Changkat Sec Sch.
Pack your bag according to the camp list given.
If you guys have any queries about the packing list, feel free to approach the NCOs, your NCO camp groupmates or Zone 2 sirs/mams.
Please get everything by camp day.

Important: ANCO, remember to get your groundsheets cause we need it for the 2D1N stay at Pulau Ubin.

This notice is mainly for the Sec Two and Three squad

Hey all,

Pls be reminded that your Basic and Advance NCO 1st day course will be on this coming Saturday, 29th Nov 2008; and also on the 6th Dec 2008.

It will be held at Bedok View Secondary School.
Report in Full-U by 0730 and register at the registration counter.
Bring along your writing materials and 1.5L Ice mountain water bottle.
[ Course notes will be given during the course itself. ]
Each corp, for both BNCO and ANCO are suppose to bring a First aid kit box and 2 first aid green pouches on the first day of the course.
For the Sec 2 squad(those going BNCO), remember to pack the kit and pouches by Saturday.
I will update the kit and pouch list on the blog ASAP.

BNCO and ANCO CAMP details will be on another post, so stay tune for more updates! :D

Combined Uniformed group Dragon Boat Orientation Programme

Hello fellow SJAB members! This is a reminder to all Sec1-3.

There will be a combined UG Dragon Boat Orientation Programme this Friday, 24 Oct 2008 at MOE Changi Coast Adventure Centre. Please report at 8am in the school foyer as the bus will leave by 8.30am SHARP. The whole activity will end at around 12pm. The attire will be school PE attire, PE shirt & BV shorts. If you all wish to wear the national day red tee, standardise among your own squad.

Like what Ms Goh LC has said this morning, please put on sandals instead of slippers for safety purposes. Not advisable to wear shoes as it will be very wet unless you all don't mind. Girls please wear swimming costume underneath your PE shirt for modesty sake.

Those who have not submitted your consent forms please do so ASAP by tmr as it will be the LAST DAY. DO NOT trouble your ICs.

3. Cadets who does not have 100% attendance will have to find CPL Cai Ying before/after training tmr.

hello all

yesterday, some of the cadets went for the annual SJAB walkaton

thanks to all who came for the event

we had fun during the 10km walk

there were also some lucky draws and

we got a free SJAB facetowel

and according to Mr Teo,

our corp is the 3rd highest collector for the walkaton card in Zone 2 so far

this news is not confirmed yet but it could be a possbility

thanks to all cadets who put in their best effort to raise funds

Monday after school 3pm-6pm,
There will be a rehearsal for St.John's day.
Pls bring along your full U attire, and that consists of boots as well.
Do rmb to bring your kiwi shoe polish too, as we will be teaching you how to polish your boots.
You can get the shoe polish from these areas: Bata Shoe Shop, Fairprice, army market.
Pls get a polishing cloth too.
Try to read up on the SJ pledge. [Click on link]

Tuesday will be St. John's day.
FALL-IN by 6.45am in the mini parade sq.
That means all of you have to be ready by 6.45pm, in your appropriate SJ attire.
Do remember these rules:
- No slinging/carrying of bags on your shoulders when you're in full-u.
- When not under shelter, make sure your headress (beret) is on.

There will be a training from 3-6pm on the same day.
Attire: SJ full-u, PT kit.
No one should be late unless provided with valid reasons.

Hello all.
Pls note that training date has been changed from 20 June 2008(Friday) to 19 June 2008(Thursday).
Attire is Full-U and bring along your PT kit.
For sec twos onwards, standardize the corp tee with your own squad.
No full/half school uniform/school P.E attire is allowed.
Everyone is suppose to have their St.John attire as this is a training.
Everyone is suppose to turn up unless with valid reasons.
Those who cannot turn up, pls inform your squadmates.

Next, well done to those who attended BFA, BHN course/exam.

Heyo!
ATTENTION TO ALL SEC ONE AND TWO SQUAD(ONLY THOSE ATTENDING THIS YR'S BFA EXAM) CADETS! :D

Next saturday, it will be your BFA at St.John HQ!
You will be tested on this few topics:

Theory paper
Practical- Inclusive of CPR and bandaging

Practical- CPR
- It will be an individual test.
- If you fail the first try, there should be a second attempt.
- But well, try not to fail of course! :D
- Most importantly, REMEMBER TO GREET THE EXAMINER, WHICH WILL BE A MAM/SIR! "Good morning/afternoon mam/sir"
- Be clear about EVERY SINGLE STEP.
- Do not mix up all the steps, and how to prevent? Revise your CPR steps.

Practical- Bandaging
- Everyone will be paired up, your partners should be within your own corp members unless there is an exception.
- You all will pick a card that will tell you what type of bandaging you should do.
- Note that the question MAY NOT be direct. For example, it may not tell you: Simple Spiral Bandaging. It could be: Cuts on your left wrist and then you will have to analyse what kind of bandaging treatment should you give.
- Time limit will be given as well.
- DO NOT drop your bandages on the floor NO MATTER WHAT.
- Even if you happen to have a case whereby you need to use a surface for bandaging, do not put it on the floor. Try to use your own lap/your friend's lap as a surface to help you.
- REMEMBER! ALWAYS TIE A RIFT KNOT! No dead knots!
- Practice makes perfection! So do practice your bandaging at home!

Theory Paper
- Not sure about the format, but please remember to revise all the notes!
- Remember/Memorise: Signs and symptoms, treatments, definitions!
- Oh yes, there will be two attempts as well, if you failed the first attempt.
- But yah, try not to fail the first attempt...

- Meet at Tampines MRT control station.
- Bring along your FA manual, stationaries, writing materials, and the notes (printed out)
We will be going through the lesson that we went through today.
